Day Trip to Alsace
We enjoyed a girl’s day out on Saturday, driving 1 1/2 hours from Zürich to Colmar, France. Oh my goodness these little colorful Alsatian Beauty and the Beast villages are so idyllic. This was the best day trip for wine tasting, girl talk, and all things French.
The Alsace region of France has the cutest little villages. We started our day in Riquewihr, the inspirational home of Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
After a delicious lunch in Riquewihr, we stopped at Decathlon to do some bargain sporting goods shopping (Tennis gear, soccer gear, bikes, you name it, they had everything. It was like a Target for all things sporty. Was there a sporting goods store in Seattle? I can’t remember.)
Next we headed to Colmar for a bit of window shopping before dinner. We found an outdoor wine and tarte flambée restaurant that looked like a beer garden. We got a bottle of Alsace Riesling and a tarte flambée for 15 euros. Such a deal! There was so much chatting on our 12 hour excursion from Zürich. The beautiful, colorful, cobblestone towns were exactly the pick me up we needed.
Have you been to the Alsace region of France? Do you have a favorite colorful little village?
