Heading Home
As I write this, I should really be packing. This week was the aftermath of the heatwave here in Zürich. We all feel a bit hung over with post heat wave lethargy. School got out on Friday for Hadley, her first year in the local school in Zürich. She had the traditional Swiss wald (days where she walks in the forest with her class, builds a fire, roasts sausages, and runs free in the woods) all five days last week as opposed to once a week. We are all a bit tired from the new school year ending, Hadley’s 6th birthday party, the heat wave, saying goodbye to our new friends and getting packed up to say hello to our family and friends in Seattle.
I am not quite packed, but with our passports in my handbag it does not really matter. We are looking forward to the fun things that we did last summer and hopeful for seeing and exploring new things this time. Here are a few pictures from our favorite adventures last summer in the small farming towns north of Seattle, Washington.
OK, it is after 9pm, I just made a coffee, must return to packing. Tomorrow is Hadley’s 6th birthday. She will experience the longest birthday of her life I imagine as we fly back in time, arriving in Seattle about the same time we leave Zürich. We are ready to time travel.
Oh the 520 floating bridge from the plane. Looking for our house…
Heike on the farm. She is over the moon excited about helping with all the farm chores. She has been endlessly talking about it for months.
One of my favorite spots, Deception Pass. Unbelievable.
Seeing our friends was wonderful.
Our old hometown near where our kids were born. We would walk to Lake Washington most weekend mornings. It was even better than I remembered.
Edmonds, Washington. Such a cute little town on the water.
Hadley got stung by a bee. Uncle Ed rescued her and carried her to the beach.
Up in Bellingham, Washington. Hadley and Alex.
These girls. On the rock that was the alter for our wedding 10 years ago.
