HUUS Gstaad
HUUS Gstaad is like stepping into a design magazine. The bar looks like a movie set. The lounge has leather sofas and velvet couches with a backdrop of incredible mountains outside and a modern fireplace inside. There’s even a DJ! So I was a bit apprehensive about taking our three kids here. But as soon as we stepped inside and saw sushi, we knew this was the place for us. HUUS Gstaad is seriously family friendly and absolutely chic at the same time. Somehow they have found the fine balance of kid friendly, dog friendly, relaxed atmosphere while being absolutely gorgeous.
The Food
We walked in to HUUS Gstaad after a 2 1/2 hour car ride from Zürich. We were hungry, even though it was bedtime. When we walked into the main entrance, we saw sushi and immediately we knew this was our kind of place. The girls walked up to the sushi chef and began ordering their normal cucumber rolls. I ordered a few more advanced sushi rolls for my husband and I. As we checked in, we were all given welcome drinks.
Our Room
I love where our room was located. We stayed in room #411, which is right next to the kid’s club, the unsupervised kid’s club, the breakfast room (and dinner if you are half board), and the TV and fussball table room. This room was perfect for us.
As I was falling asleep each night, I was surprised I didn’t hear a sound. I have stayed in a few other hotels with loads of kids, and you can’t help but hear footsteps or crying or whatever. But here I couldn’t hear a thing. Ah, the sound of silence.
It’s hard to find a hotel room for a family of 5 in Europe. So far only the kinderhotels have amazing rooms that fit our family. So I was happy when we got to our family room. The girls immediately ran through the room to the ladder, knowing they had the second floor loft to themselves. Our baby slept in a travel cot provided by the hotel.
Kid’s Club
Our kids love a good kid’s club. And this one met their high demands. It’s not a signing and dancing and clown type kid’s club. It’s a continued version of the high standards yet somehow perfectly relaxed theme of the hotel. There is one playroom and one supervised room. The supervised room is connected to the breakfast (and dinner) room. Our kids would eat and then play, leaving us to actually have a conversation during a meal.
In the mornings, we would get our food from the big buffet breakfast and the kids would choose if we all sat in the kid’s club or not. Since they loved Anita, the kid’s club supervisor, they wanted to eat there and wait for her to come in and show them more crafts. We came home with so much cute artwork they made out of all sorts of supplies. And, true to Swiss independence standards, the girls are now professionals at a hot glue gun.
Pool, Spa, and Kid’s Spa
The kids got into their perfectly tiny sized robes and slippers and we headed to the pool. Even our baby got a welcome bag filled with soaps, shampoo, a toy, and slippers. HUUS has a pool, an adult spa, and a kid’s spa.
A kid’s spa!? I had never heard of such a thing. We saw a sign for the kid’s spa so went downstairs to take a look at the playground, grotto, and sauna just for kids. How cute is that?
Gstaad
Such a cute little one street town. The street is lined with beautiful old ornate wooden houses with gorgeous colorful flower baskets. While we were eating lunch a cow parade walked right through town! How Swiss is that?
Hotel Perks
And just in case relaxing all weekend in this beautiful hotel isn’t enough, all of these things are included in the room rate. This makes me really want to book a week in the winter and again in the summer!

My two cents
HUUS Gstaad is a beautiful, family friendly hotel with a great kid’s club and a bar and lounge area that makes me feel like I’m on my own chic mom vacation. I would love to come back and see what it looks like during ski season and during summer hiking season. It was really nice to visit in the autumn when there was no need to rush around. We were looking to relax and that is exactly what we did. Plus, we really got to know the hotel itself, instead of being distracted by skiing and hiking all day.
Thank you HUUS Gstaad, who knew how much we needed a relaxing weekend away and were kind enough to host us. And I’ve already been on their website looking for availability for our upcoming school holidays! Does anyone else book their next holiday while on holiday?
