The Märlitram, A Jelmoli Christmas Tradition, Rides Through Zurich
One of our newest Christmas traditions is having the girls take the Jelmoli Märlitram through Zürich. The Märlitram started this week in Zürich and the girls got to ride on it last night just as they did last year. The girls jumped right on the tram, escorted by angels and driven by Santa. I’m not quite sure what happens on the tram ride, but they have stardust on their noses and cookies in their hands when they get off. I have heard there are Christmas songs sung and stories read by the angels. This year Heike dropped her ticket while we were eating dinner at the Bellevue Christmas Market across the street and we almost missed getting on the tram. Luckily a nice angel finally came to our rescue and let Heike on board. I think we picked the absolute coldest day of the year to ride the tram as it was -2c when we got home. The Märlitram runs daily from November 28th-December 24th for children ages 4-10. Tickets are only available on the 4th floor of Jelmoli and cost 8chf. Sometimes it seems hard to keep any Christmas traditions living in different countries and moving around. The Märlitram, advent calendars, candle making, gingerbread houses, and advent wreath making seem are our current traditions.
What are your family Christmas traditions?
