Ladurée macarons in Zurich
Update: Sadly, this gem of a shop closed in 2017. So now, just book a train to Paris to get an authentic Ladurée fix. The train to Paris is absolutely lovely and there are so many wonderful things to see and do. It’s a great weekend away.
I love Ladurée. From the original location in Paris to London and now to Zürich. We were lucky enough to have a history and tasting morning yesterday with the lovely Zürich manager Simone. My girls love the colors of all the macarons, as do I! When we lived in London, we loved going to the Covent Garden location. And now in Zürich, we are so happy to have found this great little shop on one of the most beautiful cobbled streets off the Bahnhofstrasse (Kuttelgasse 17, right next to the Swatch shop).
My favorite flavors are raspberry and salted caramel. Simone said salted caramel is their most popular flavor. For fun we tried the black licorice. I am not a big fan of black licorice, but the macaron was so nice with only the tiniest hint of licorice. My girls got lemon, marshmallow, raspberry and chocolate with gold. André chose cognac and Marie Antoinette. I decided on the raspberry and Marie Antoinette. I was happy to learn that the macarons and chocolate are made in Switzerland. The service is very welcoming and friendly. We will definitely be back for more soon.
