My Pregnancy Week 29
We are in Norway for a week’s holiday as we are now officially in the third trimester of my pregnancy week 29. Norway is absolutely beautiful and I will write up our one week itinerary in the next few days. We are here to celebrate my Dad’s 75th birthday with friends and family.
Flying in the third trimester
Flying while pregnant is a bit stressful in the third trimester just as I think of the complications that could arise, but we had a very uneventful flight from Zürich to Oslo. I wore my compression tights, had a doctor’s note that I was OK to fly (thought no one asked), and I made sure to stretch and use the bathroom while we were on the 2 hour flight.
Norway In A Nutshell
We booked the Norway In A Nutshell tour for our one week holiday and it’s working out perfectly. I did this same tour 20 years ago when traveling with a friend and am thrilled to finally be back in this gorgeous country. We traveled from Oslo to Voss to Bergen and are enjoying our family time together and having leisurely days without anywhere to be and without rushing around. We are soaking in the gorgeous views, cute towns, and fish and chips.
The Baby
This baby is moving all the time! I don’t remember the girls moving around, but it has been years since I was last pregnant. I only remember them having hiccups. It seems like a lifetime ago. The movements are not painful, but it does seem pretty constant at times.
After The Hospital Tour
I emailed the birthing hospital we toured last week as well as my doctor’s office to find out how I register for the hospital. It turns out my doctor is in charge of registering me and he will be my doctor at the hospital (unless he isn’t, then someone else on staff will deliver this baby). After the tour I read through mounds of brochures and magazines that the hospital tour gave us. Everything from coupons and baby websites to baby hotel getaways. I was excited to get a few pacifiers, socks, baby soaps and creams.
After reading the comments on last week’s pregnancy post I am surrendering to the shared after delivery room idea as we have half private insurance. Hopefully this birth will go smoothly and we can leave the hospital in the shortest time and the sharing will be a non issue.
I am excited to get into the week 30’s and the third trimester. The 30’s makes it seem like this baby is almost here. I never had a hospital bag for the girls as they were both immediate inductions and I didn’t have time to prepare a bag for them. One of the girls even came home in just her diaper and hospital blanket!
So maybe I should start thinking about packing an overnight bag and a baby outfit. I read Aspiring Kennedy’s hospital bag items and loved the robe and disposable slippers idea, especially if I’m sharing a bathroom this time around! Any must have items I should have in a hospital bag for during and after giving birth? If you gave birth in Switzerland, are there any must have after birth items? I’m mainly thinking of myself and what I loved last time (water bottle, freeze spray, tucks pads, hospital gauze underpants, etc.).
