Quai 61 Sunday Brunch
In Seattle we had Anthony’s Homeport, Ray’s Boathouse, and Salty’s for the idyllic water view, casual atmosphere yet chic, nautically inspired, fish focused Sunday brunch spots. A place to bring your parents, grandparents, to have a baby shower, to celebrate a birthday, and to enjoy the water view.
The girls and I went to Quai 61 for Sunday brunch yesterday. Perched on stilts directly on Lake Zurich with gorgeous views of the city, boats, and beautiful lake. We were so happy with our gorgeous window booth. We were so lucky! We felt like we were aboard a gorgeous cruise ship with the beautiful nautical theme of the restaurant and the windows that make you feel like you are sailing away. The blazing sun rose for the first time in weeks! Straight into our booth. It was so sunny, warm and bright. I was overjoyed to finally feel the sun again. And slightly too hot and almost ALMOST wanted the blinds drawn for a little shade. Hilarious. It’s almost spring, right?!
My girls split a full order of 3 pancakes with bacon and of course maple syrup. They ate every bite of pancakes and left a bit of bacon behind, but the portions were nice and generous for Swiss standards. I ordered the Fisherman’s Choice. (I ordered this last time as well.) It is a generous (humongous) portion of smoked salmon and a bagel. I forgot that this did not come with eggs so I ordered two sides of scrambled eggs to share as I feel brunch MUST include eggs. Right? I was tragically American as I ordered cappuccino after cappuccino during our meal. I’m sure I was supposed to start with a mimosa, prosecco, or something boozy, but I inappropriately kept ordering cappuccino’s. Luckily I was the only one who noticed.
We had fantastic service. The setting is enough to keep coming back to Quai 61. The brunch menu is small, but includes the required pancakes and eggs we need to call it brunch. There is plenty of room for children as the booths are quite roomy. There were many children at the restaurant both times we visited. After brunch, we walked along the lake and took in the gorgeous marina. We stopped at the coffee shop Hafen Enge Beiz on our little walk (might take 30 seconds to walk from Quai 61 to Hafen Enge Beiz…). We sat and enjoyed the sunny day. Sundays are for long brunches and beautiful walks anyway, right?
